Stephen Trouvere doesn’t “take the tour.” After graduating with honors from a university system he found deeply problematic, he traded a BA in English Literature for a job washing dishes in Minneapolis. Looking into a colander of dazzlingly slick adzuki beans, he realized with wonder that cooking could become his life – at least for career number one.

His path through kitchens provided insight into mysterious characters, educated him on the workings of the world, and taught him how to create an evanescent experience in the dining rooms and mansions of the city. To tell a story through the words on a menu, and with textures and compositions on the plate.

That BA is now burning a hole in his pocket, as he writes stories again from a more seasoned perspective. The time has come to craft stories infused with flavors, instead of the other way around.

Stephen is proud to share his debut novel The Weightless Sidekick, and has other works simmering on the back burners.  He has fed 3.6 million guests to date and would be honored to nourish many more with satisfying tales.
